In my music video i used old dated footage with a black and white tone to it as it is similar to the video of Manchester Orchester who used very old looking home video in a number of there videos

style of music and the way in which they show the artist prefoming the music

the audience of this will between lte teens and earlyer 30′s as the style of music is very mature and would not appeal to younger markets.Also the nature of the song are also mature so this limits the audience as not all listener’s would fully understand the meaning behind the songs to do with love and betrayal . this type os music would not be found on the popuar music channels and this type of bandyou would have to be found or reccomened on as it is not the type of msuci that would traditionally found on kerrange . Also these musican are very passionate about there music and would not sellout for the money and fame as many other bands, they do not relie on marketing to get there audience and they have a mentality of if you dont link our music then go away

Magazine advert

Punk music is not just a type of rock , punk music is very much influence by politics , religion , social class’s and culture . So for my album to be authentic punk i must portay atleast one of these themes in my album to get the punk feel and influence .

So in this peice I am having a look at current punk album artwork so I can see current ideas for albums and then reconise what punk albums contain . And hopefully by the end know what issues I want to adress in my album.

Through-out this work i was asking for audience feed-back to that i could get a direct view on what they audience wanted and would responde to.

On my album i asked them what they like and dislike about it, and weather they could distingwish what genre of music it was from the album cover alone. I had  a good responce with the representation of the genre and they were able to tell genre it was with ease so i knew i portrayed that correctly. And they like the font of the album name being in company logos, but they felt that the band name being in colour was too much colour on and album with a black and white background so i decided to have it in black, this way it also belended in with the background.

I asked the audience what they thought about the advert and weather it would make them want to listen to this band . The majority liek the advert and agreed that they would want to check the band out , but one person i asked did not agree but i did not change it as the majority liked the advert .

I asked my audience when watching my music video, if they could follow or understand the message/story in the video , and weather it was enjoyable to watch and if they would watch it again. The main issue that came up was that it was hard to follow and hard to get the story so i decided to film some extra bits of a girl so that i could add it in and this would help viewers get the story. They also think it was abit male orientated so i think this help that adding a female could make it more appealing to both male and females. I also wanted to add the black and white to make it easy to distingwish between present and past .

Overall the audience feedback really helped me evolve through the process and helped greatly to make it better and more appealing as it is what a real audience want

Over-all im am very pleased with the out come of my project and i feel that it has meet the critiria that was set from the begginging.

I was pleased with the album cover and i am happy with the look and apperience and i think it looks profeshional and fits the convention of the genre and if seen in a music store it would be easly recognised as a punk album. I think it fitted the convention of a punk album very well with the bold colours to grab attention of the audicence. Also as with alot of punk band they have a political undercurrent with either the band name , album name or both. Mine is in the album view with the name “Agent Orange” which was a chemical used by the US army in viatnam .If i was to redo this I wouldnt change too much about apart from the background and when i reviewed it and look at some other punk album i realised that it could have had a more industrial background with prehaps a factory, tip or somthing more grimmy which goes with that genre.

The magazine advert was also apart of the process i was very proud of and i feel that it matched the profeshional product very well as i read alot of music magazine and i feel that it looks very similar to the ones used in the magazine. I tryed very hard to choice what content to have one the advert and choiceing the right infomation for it but also without over welming the advert with pointless infomation. My main objective in the advert was to make it fun whils still sellng my band , so i made it very colourful but also funny so viewer will like the advert and then look at the band and where they are playing and there website infomation. If i had the chance to change things i would possibly add more to the image but i was not too sure weather doing so would overwelm the image  and distract attention from the advert and not be as effective as an advert.

The filming and editing was the hardest and longest part of the task and it took alot of skills and time to complete it to the quality i felt i have done. It required me to plan alot of the day when i wanted to edit and film with arrange times and date for my actors to film and also booking day when i wanted to edit on my school computer even though i eveshally editted on a prgramme i had at home. I also had to plan the order in which i would film the video and i had to bare in mind the change light and weather condition aswell as film at time when my location would not be busy with pedestians. The editting process was the most time consuming as i had alot of technical issue with the software and equitment which look along time to set right more in some case’s redo. If i had the change to redo i would try to film earlyer and also edit sooner to give me more time to finish and finalise everything as some bit were rushed as there was a lack of time.

Overall im very happy with the out come and despite there being something i would have changed ifi could have i and pleased with the outcome and feels it meets the criteria of the brief well.

I toke all of the videos of my actor Joe day and i choose to do it all in one day to eliminated any possibility of continuity error in the video as if i was to film it on 2 day the weather and lighting may have changed over the days time difference .

So with only having afew hours to which film the majority of my film we needed to be every productive with the time so i sent my actor a copy of the lyrics from the song so that he could learn the lyrics to the song, a copy of that parts of the song i would be filming where and what he would be doing so that he would know what he would be required to do, also most importantly the song so that he could learn it and know how the song goes and most importantly the tempo so that he was in time with the song .

So that it was easyer to edit the song in time i had the song playing while i was filming this help my actor sing in time and also for the editing i can hear the words and then know when to cut and when to change shoots. If i had not had done this i would have found the editing much harder. This also helped my actor sing and act in tempo of the song so that he would be sing at the same pass of the song and would not effect the video with out of sync singing. Also as the song choosen is a very passionate one it aided my actor to get into the song aswell and make the video more acuratte to the song.

I choose to film the begining of the video at the end of the filming process as the beging of the video was going to be filmed indoors so the lighting would not be as much of an issue , beacause if that part of the film was to take longer than expected it would delay and effect the rest of the film throught out the day and this would have been a major problem was the time of year when i was recording it go dark very quicky and early.

The rest of the film i did in cronlogical order for two reason, firsty as i believed it would give my actor better feeling for the song and as they filming day went on it would he would get more and more passionate and into the song and represent the song better. secondly is that the location i choose prior to filming were closer to each other in this order and would save time on filming.

A large part of the filming was done on the beach as this links to the song about a sailor and i was also able to film in a fishing yard on the beach and this was a great help to my filming as it gave alot of orthenticity to the song and as the boat yard is very old it gave the video a dated look but still modern with old rusted fishing pots and wrenches and building but with the modern singing in indie style clothing.

I also wanted so other links to the artist of the song so i got my actor to where a shirt with the band “Mancchester Orchester” which is the main band of the singer Andy Hull from the song . Also the band is from Georgia in america and they all where the typical southern american cloths with checked style shit and i wanted my actor match this look . I wanted there to also be an eliment of music preformance in the video so i had my actor have a acoustic guitar to go with the style of the song.

As I like this song very much and think it is very passionate i thought it was very important for me to represent it in the way that i thought best and authencity was very important to me. Also with the song i choose there was some freedom with the way of filming as the type of music is unque and different to what else if is out there i didnt feel resitrained by stero types or convention of the genre which allowed me to be creative in the ways i wanted.

Overall i am very happy with the way that the filming turned out. If i was to do it again  i would have tryed to get promission to get on board one of the fising boat and maybe given myself some more time with filming as some part were quite rushed and didnt get the full potenshal out of the filming locations .

This advert is for a band called Twin Atlantic , who from personal knowledge are a new scottish band and the album they are advertising is the debut album.

The first thing that u notice from this advert is the glass container on the left hand side of the photo. The container which is a vivarium if full of exotic plants and some soil at the bottom .

Then your attention is drawn towards the bands name which is in big letter on the right hand side of the photo. The font is very simple and does not tell you too much about the band unlike some font that other bands use which can tell you straight away what genre and style of music they are. Below the bands name there is the album name which is called “Vivarium” which then make the connection between the image and the album . Also there is a large similarity between the magazine advert and the album cover as it has the same immage of the vivarium but in the album cover it is in a very bleck looking room.

Directly below this there is afew caption that say about the album. One section bit is about the songs on this album. As these songs are being mention on the advert this shows that they are the popular song on this album and the ones that have been given good review and are widely liked. Between the two songs there is the word “and” this is writen is a smaller and not so bold font but still has same style of the over fonts. This is done so that people can clearly see that they are two song and not one song with a long title to save the confusion of the audience .Then below this is the date which the album is realeased so that people who might want to buy this album know on what day it is available.  And then two quotes from magazines about the album one saying “This band is going to be huge!”. This allows the readers see that a reptiable magazine company likes there album and this puts faith potenshal buys that they are likely to like this album.

Then below that there is the tour dates of the band and the telephone numbers of the venues if they want to buy tickets . And at the very bottom going across the whole wifth of the page is there website , myspace and twitter pages.

The background is all white and the colour of all the writing is in the same green which looks similar to the plants in the vivarium .

It is very important for a band to advertise in the right place as it is very expensive for these adverts and if a band advertises themselves in the wrong magazine then it is a waste of money . so they must advertise in a magazine that is about the same music as they play and this band has done so in this magazine. Also the rock and metal fans can get very touchy about there music and if they see or hear somthing in the wrong places and where they dont want to see or hear it they will make it know and if a band was to do this in the  wrong magazine it could have some extreme effects for them as this could effect there popularity . An example of this was a band “my chemical romance ” who played a set at a festival that is mainly for metal and this band is a emo band and they were bottled by the whole crowd in a sign of protest.

As a new band there first album must be good as if it isnt very good they will not make a second album so it is essential for them to advertise it proberly so have the maximum number of people listening to them so it would mean more people who buy there album. So to do this the magazine has a cd with every issue with 12 tracks from different bands which are featured in the issue and this helps to get people listening to there music and the possiblt to buy or download there cd.

The true story from somwhere in brizial i think, i carnt explain the story because it would take tooooo long and the film was 2 hours and abit and it only got the whole story at the end and even now im trying to work it out.basically it all revolves around this boy called rocket, but it said his name isnt rocket at the end so god knows who he really is.

The narattive was very confusing , it was like someone lost the paper clip for the script and dropped the pages and recorded it in the way they picked it up. but distipe this the story didnt seem to outta places even though there was more flashbacks then the whole film.

distite all my complain it was a very very goooood film earning it at 9.5/10 a ten coz i havnt seen a truelly brilliant film yet
